Man Struck By Car In Bridgeport Seriously Injured, Police Say

A man struck by a car while walking along a Fairfield County roadway was seriously injured.

The crash occurred in Bridgeport around 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9 at the intersection of Beechmont Avenue and Springdale Street.

According to Capt. Lonnie Blackwell of the Bridgeport Police, the unidentified man was struck by a 2011 gray Nissan Altima traveling southbound on Beechmont Avenue.

"The victim was in the roadway walking southbound on Beechmont Avenue," Blackwell said. 

The victim was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, for serious injuries sustained at the scene, the captain said. 

The woman driving the Nissan remained on the scene and cooperated with police, Blackwell said.

A male passenger was arrested on unrelated charges, he added.
